B.C. Training and Education Savings Grant
November 30, 2015
The B.C. Government is willing to contribute $1,200 to eligible children through the B.C. Training and Education Savings Grant (BCTESG) to encourage families to start planning and saving for their children’s post-secondary education or training. To be eligible, there are 3 criteria:
1. The child was born after 2007
2. You and the child must be residents of B.C.
3. The child is the beneficiary of a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) with a participating financial institution
To obtain this grant, you will need to apply after the child turns 6 but before his or her 9th birthday. However, if your child turned 6 in 2013, 2014, or 2015, there is an extension to apply available, allowing you until August 14, 2018 or the day before the child’s 9th birthday, whichever is later.
